Ride Safe – Wheelchair Transportation

This presentation covers the basic principles of wheelchair transportation safety. The 40-minute talk covers the topics of wheelchair securement with 4-point strap type tiedowns and docking systems, effective occupant restraint, and wheelchairs that meet the WC19 safety standard.

    This 4-hour online course is the FIRST NATIONAL PROGRAM on MAE documentation. It includes 5 video lectures with Power Point presentations that walk through the new Medicare Coverage Policies and what is required to document a patient’s need for MAE. This seminar is particularly useful for Physicians and Therapists to better understand how existing clinical documentation standards can reflect what Medicare will look for as evidence in a post-payment audit of suppliers. Specific case examples of assessment and documentation are provided. Attendees can also download sample templates to use in their practice.

    2nd Virtual Grand Rounds, “An Introduction and Overview to Assistive Technology for Cognitive Disability for People with Polytrauma”

    Individuals with polytrauma have numerous diagnoses, usually including some degree of mild to severe traumatic brain injury (TBI), that not only affects cognition but also emotional and behavioral regulation. This presentation provides an overview of the most salient cognitive deficits, currently available assistive technologies to assist in compensation of these deficits, and provides several short case examples. It will also provide an overview of use of cognitive orthotics in current clinical programs, and briefly highlight the potential for using virtual environments and other tools to address cognitive and emotional issues.
