Lois Brown, MPT, ATP

Lois Brown, MPT, ATP/SMS is a physical therapist with 20 years experience, and the Rehab Clinical Education Specialist for Invacare. Her professional experience includes adult and adolescent rehab and wheeled seating and mobility in several wheelchair clinics in Philadelphia, PA. Lois also has extensive experience in working with clients with Brain Injuries, other Neuromuscular Diseases, Developmental Disabilities and Pressure Management. Lois has presented in national and international conferences on Wheeled Seating and Mobility and Assistive Technology, including the International Seating Symposium, European Seating Symposium, and RESNA conference. Lois has been published in a variety of Rehab Publications and is considered an expert in her field. Lois graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Temple University and a subsequent Masters in Physical Therapy in 1992. She holds an Assistive Technology Professional Credential from RESNA, with professional memberships including the APTA and RESNA. She serves on the board and as a professional consultant to the Fighting Back Program in Philadelphia, a fitness program for individuals living with a disability.

Chris Chovan, MOT, OTR/L, ATP

Chris Chovan is a licensed occupational therapist and RESNA certified assistive technology professional. Mr. Chovan has practiced in the area of seating and wheeled mobility for over 15 years. He is the owner and founder of Rehab Mobility Specialists, Inc., a successful home health-based therapy private practice which specializes in evaluations for wheelchair seating and mobility, home safety and accessibility, and other specialty assistive technologies. Prior to founding this practice, he was the National Education Manager for Quantum Rehab, an industry leading manufacturer of power mobility devices. Additionally, Mr. Chovan has been very active with state and national advocacy organizations related to assistive technology and seating and wheeled mobility policy, funding and service delivery.

Jay Doherty, OTR, ATP/SMS

Jay is the Clinical Education Manager for Quantum Rehab and oversees the development of complex rehab education programs and speaks to rehab facilities and equipment providers from a clinical perspective. Jay graduated from Quinnipiac College in 1995 with a B.S. in occupational therapy and has earned his ATP and SMS certifications through RESNA. He worked as a staff therapist treating adults with a variety of neurological and orthopedic disorders on the SCI unit of the National Rehabilitation Hospital. Jay moved on to work for NH-ATEC, an assistive technology center that provides a wide variety of assistive technology services, and also has experience working for a complex rehab provider.

Michelle Lange, OTR, ABDA, ATP/SMS

Michelle is an occupational therapist with 25 years of experience and former Clinical Director of The Assistive Technology Clinics of The Children’s Hospital of Denver. She is a well-respected lecturer, both nationally and internationally and has authored 7 book chapters and over 100 articles. She is the editor of Fundamentals in Assistive Technology, 4th ed. Michelle is on the teaching faculty of RESNA and the University of Pittsburgh. She is on the RERC on Wheeled Mobility Advisory Board. Michelle is a credentialed ATP, credentialed SMS and is a Senior Disability Analyst of the ABDA.

Ginny Paleg, DScPT, MPT, PT

Ginny Paleg is an NDT certified pediatric PT from Silver Spring, Maryland. She has worked at NIH, a pediatric rehab hospital (for 8 yrs), and in schools (9 yrs). She currently works for her local school system in their early intervention program. Ginny earned her Masters Degree in Physical Therapy at Emory University and her DScPT at the University of Maryland Baltimore. She is on the editorial board of Rehab Management Magazine and the APTA Pediatric Section reimbursement representative for the state of Maryland. Ginny has presented and published nationally and internationally including APTA, Medtrade, Canadian Seating and Mobility, World Physical Therapy Conference, European Seating Symposium and AACPDM. She is an author of two RESNA position papers (Supported Standing Devices and Pediatric Power Mobility). Ginny was a keynote speaker at the European (in 2011) and Nordic Seating and Symposiums in 2012. Ginny also presented a long program on the effects of mobility on cognition at APTA’s CSM in Chicago in February, 2012.

Sharon Pratt, PT, Independent Consultant Seating And Mobility

Sharon has specialized in the field of seating and mobility for over 20 years. Graduating from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland as a Physical Therapist, Sharon has experienced many aspects of the seating and mobility service delivery model. She has given over 700 presentations on seating and mobility to physical and occupational therapists, nurses and case managers worldwide. She has also been involved with the ISO wheelchair standards working group. Presently Sharon is an independent consultant in her own practice. From clinical services to reimbursement to product development to clinical training; known to many as a dynamic and highly energetic speaker, Sharon’s extensive knowledge makes her a very skilled seminar instructor.

Cindy Smith, PT, ATP

Cindy is the Manager of Out-Patient Spinal Cord Injury Program at Craig Hospital. She has 22 years of experience in seating and mobility for persons with SCI and acquired brain injury, primarily focusing on those with chronic injuries. Along with annual educational presentations on seating and skin for the DPT program at the University of Colorado, she has given multiple presentations at ISS, CSMC, ASCIP, Invacare Clinician Summit, Sunrise Medical National meeting, and the ATG Rehab annual meeting, and she is a member of the clinical focus group for many of the major manufacturers of seated mobility products.
