Positioning the Head
An encompassing overview for the beginner to intermediate audience, targeting the importance of good head position as it relates to numerous health and quality of life issues including but not limited to swallow, respiration and communication. This webinar will discuss the relationship between pelvic position and head position and how they both influence functional seating outcomes. A brief review of pertinent primitive reflexes and their impact on seating will be provided. Explore a variety of headrest options and help determine which configuration best suits your client’s needs.
Leslie is a licensed PT with over 35 years of treatment experience and works with clients from birth to geriatrics in a variety of settings including hospital, rehab, school, office, homecare and hospice. For the past 18 years, she has been a treating therapist at Lakeview CP School in Edison, New Jersey, where she developed a special interest in seating and adaptive equipment. In an effort to improve the quality of life for her clients with poor head control, she created the i2i head and neck positioning and support system which is now manufactured by Stealth Products. She was awarded the ASAH 2007 Related Services Provider of the Year winner for the state of New Jersey. Leslie has had the pleasure of presenting at PMG in the UK and at other various locations in Europe and the USA.
