The focus of discussion will be on principles and biomechanics of seating and wheeled mobility. The assessment process will be reviewed from initial client contact through the final equipment prescription. Special emphasis will be placed on the value of the “hands on” assessment as well as on how to translate the assessment findings into necessary product parameters. Sharon has specialized in the field of seating and mobility for over 20 years. Graduating from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland as a Physical Therapist, Sharon has experienced many aspects of the seating and mobility service delivery model. She has given over 700 presentations on seating and mobility to physical and occupational therapists, nurses and case managers worldwide. She has also been involved with the ISO wheelchair standards working group. Presently Sharon is an independent consultant in her own practice. From clinical services to reimbursement to product development to clinical training; known to many as a dynamic and highly energetic speaker, Sharon’s extensive knowledge makes her a very skilled seminar instructor.
